University of Delaware, Thought Reform, and Widgets
Many students from the University of Delaware (UD) have contacted FIREto express their outrage over the university鈥檚 reeducation program. Don鈥檛 worry, there is much you can do in addition to speaking out on campus. FIREhas assembled essential resources to aid active students, faculty members, and concerned citizens in their efforts to oppose campus oppression.
We encourage college students, and especially students at UD, to join FIRE鈥檚 Campus Freedom Network (CFN), our new initiative to preserve individual rights on college campuses. The CFN is a network of students and faculty members dedicated to advancing individual liberty on their campuses. A new CFN website is currently under construction. It will feature dynamic resources and interactive capabilities to aid free speech advocates鈥 efforts in higher education.
FIRE鈥檚 Guide to First Year Orientation and Thought Reform on Campus offers a concise introduction to programs like the one seen at UD and to the constitutional barrier between educating students and violating their freedom of conscience which university authorities may not cross. FIREcan order the thought reform Guide from 果冻传媒app官方鈥檚 website free of charge. Please do. It鈥檚 an excellent resource for understanding your right to freedom of conscience. If you鈥檇 like to distribute a large quantity of thought reform Guides on the UD campus, or on any other campus, please inquire at guides@thefire.org.
UD is rated as a red light school on Spotlight: The Campus Freedom Resource, 果冻传媒app官方鈥檚 comprehensive speech codes database. This means that UD has policies that clearly and substantially restrict freedom of speech. If any bloggers associated with UD would like to bring attention to its egregious speech codes, please place a FIREwidget for UD on your website or blog. We鈥檙e willing to send you a free FIREt-shirt for your effort. Just follow the simple directions below.
1. Visit thefire.org/spotlight and select your school by state, region, or just by typing its name into the search box.
2. When your school鈥檚 page comes up, look on the right sidebar to see the widget for that particular school. Below it is a box with some text in it鈥攕elect it all and copy it to the clipboard.
3. Go to your blog or website, and paste in the text wherever you want the widget to appear (it鈥檚 made for a sidebar, but should work anywhere).
4. Send us a link to your site with the widget posted on it and your mailing address.
